ACS deliver 2 programs throughout the Wheatbelt that are aimed at young people who are At Risk. The programs focus on the education of young people about the Effects of Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco, Social & Emotional Well-being, Sexual Education & Connection to Country & Community. ACS also offer a mentoring service for young people, delivered in a Case Management Model that offers low level support for young people needing some guidance.

WA PCYC

Youth Support

Northam PCYC exists so that children and young people at risk in the Northam area have a safe place to go – somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and do things that young people should do.

Northam PCYC is an integral part of the local community delivering programs and activities not available anywhere else in the region. The Centre works closely with schools, community groups, the WA Police and other agencies to provide a variety of activities each week to cater for young peoples needs.

Northam PCYC caters to young people within the community by providing structured social and sporting activities in a safe and controlled environment and relies on community support and a loyal base of volunteers for the successful running of its activities.

Wheatbelt Mental Health Service provides free, confidential, quality, community mental health care to people of all ages in the Coastal and Wheatbelt communities.

The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service is a team of mental health professionals including a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologists, social workers, child and adolescent professionals and community mental health nurses. This service provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for people with mental health problems. The service can provide training and support to other organisations and professionals. Clinical programs include:

  • Aboriginal Mental Health Program (all ages)
  • Adult Mental Health Program (18-65 years)
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program (0-18 years)
  • Seniors Mental Health Program (65+ years)

The Child Witness Service Northam

Youth Support

The Child Witness Service does not provide counselling. However, referrals can be made to appropriate agencies when additional support is required.


The Child Witness Service aims to:

  • Reduce trauma for children giving evidence in court by appropriate preparation and support.
  • Undertake assessments of a child’s needs in relation to giving evidence and advocate for the child to receive their entitlements under the legislation.
  • Work with the WA Police Force and the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure a child witness and their family are kept fully informed about the progress of a case through the courts
  • Help a child witness prepare a victim impact statement, even if the child is not required to give evidence

Parkerville: Therapeutic Family Services
