The Pilbara Community Alcohol & Drug Service provides ongoing assessment, treatment and referral for people seeking support with alcohol and other drug issues in Karratha, Hedland, Tom Price and Newman areas. The service extends it support to anyone wanting to improve their health and wellbeing including: Aboriginal people and communities, children and young people, people with mental health concerns, people in rural and remote area, families/significant others, & those who have interacted with the criminal justice system.

Bloodwood Tree: Sobering Up Centre (Wapa Maya)

This service is a 16 bed facility and operates between 4pm and 8am Monday to Friday, including Friday night and all Public Holidays. The Sobering Up Centre is designed to provide Bloodwood Tree clients with a safe environment and access to bathroom facilities, a bed, clean clothes, simple nutritious meals, non-judgemental non-discriminatory care and referral to other agencies and services if required.

Turner River Rehabilitation Facility

Yaandina’s Turner River Rehabilitation Centre is a 24-bed facility that uses the Therapeutic Community (TC) model for treatment and addiction recovery that includes mental and physical healing. This centre provides a facility in the Pilbara that allows individuals who have successfully completed a detoxification process from drugs and/or alcohol to recover from their addictions.

Turner River is certified against the Standards for Therapeutic Communities in a Residential Care setting and also certified against the Standards for Culturally Secure practice. The centre is open 24 hours – 365 days a years and families are able to visit following a settling in period.

Accessing the service – a referral accompanied by a medical assessment is required to access Turner River. Referrals could be from self, community drug and alcohol services, mental health services, other community agencies.
